Google.com is now moving away from its simplistic approach to its search website design. From its launch we saw Google.com have just a plain white background with a logo and search box in the middle of the screen.

Although it made several variations to its Google logo for holidays or for promotions, the latest being Google Pacman logo, many people thought Google.com become little trendy just like Bing which has changing backgrounds on search terms or day right from its launch.

Now Google seems to be following that direction as the company has announced they will let their users to load custom backgrounds upon their wish and the same background appears whenever they open Google search.

This feature will be available first to the US users in next few days while the users around the world will get this feature a little later. The users can use custom backgrounds by simple dragging images from their desktop or from Picassa library onto their Google homepage. Google has still left an option for those who want simple and clean look can switch between the plain background or the custom background.

Though Google has allowed page customizations in iGoogle before, it will be interesting to see how people feel about the new custom background feature. What do you say about this new feature?
